Journey to Motswari
Having woken up early I decided that might a well get on the road as I had a 500km drive ahead of me and I needed the roads to be quiet so I could find my way out of Joburg.
Lost with in the first 5 km did not bode well for the rest of the journey but after 30 min and 12km later was back were i started and having learnt from my mistakes got on the right road.
The journey was straight forward once I was on the motorways. As hoped the roads were in fact empty and I could get into a driving rhythm. The skies were clear and the stars shone like beacons for me to find my way. The sun duly came up the fog came down not lifting for the next 70Km until I reached Lydenburg, which was also my first refuelling stop. After this the fog lifted to reveal speactular mountain scenery.
I arrived at the Timbavati east gate at about 10am, on time, and now the pleasure started I got so enthusiastic that it took 2 hours to cover the 36km stopping for every bird, a tortoise and a lizard.
It was not long before I had checked in and ready for my first game drive. First of all we went to the runway to find Impala and Elephants after having watched them for about 30 min we set of on a trek south to find the Leopard (Rockfig jnr) and her cub. The cub is about 3monthsood and very shy. We did get a fleeting glimpse of the cub before she ran off but was too quick to get any images.
The sun was setting as we set of back to camp stopping for a sun downer by on of the pools.
