Journey to Dundee

The day starts well waking up at 5 as has been the past routine, stopping by for coffee and rusks to say farewell to The guys before they leave for their game drive and I have to load the car ready for my trip.
At 6:30 all is well but which way do I go, my mind has been so orientated to the game drives that it takes 2 attempts Wisani Crossing & Airfield) before I find the right road only to have a young bull Elephant blocking my way that takes 10 minutes before he decides to walk off into the bush.  The trip down Argyle road was the usual mixture of Impala,  buffalo and the ever faithful Hornbills and Rollers One Male Impala stands midway on of the crossings and cant make up his mind what to do so with a little encouragement from me he moves.   Dropping my Voel Dam – nothing much to see.  I eventually arrive at the Timbavati East gate hand in my exit pass and hit the road for Dundee some 600 km and 10 hours of driving away.

The day passes reason able travelling at between 100 and 120 kph until I near Newcastle.  I see the roadwork’s sign and assume it is like the UK but on now the traffic lights (Robots in ZA) are on a timer not for 5 mins or less as in the UK but 20 mins so switch of the engine and wait. Thinking it was my lucky day we passed through ok but not 5 kilometres further up the road  there is another road works.  After the 3rd set of roadworks I reach Newcastle luckily they have built a by-pass so it is on to Dundee which luckily is event free and I arrive at 16:00.

Time for a shower and supper at 19:00

Tomorrow it is off to Rorkes drift and Refuge Drift.
