2 nd day Tue

It is always difficult to describe in detail what a place like Motswari conjures up,  It is not always about the animals but the variety of the vegetation and scenery as to day would prove.

The morning started off with a good sighting of elephants which was followed up by seeing a vulture, Fish eagle and a Bateleur standing at the waters edge some 100 yards away and as we drove we could make out this disgusting smell that on inspection turned out to be a partly eaten Rock Python.

As we drove on we found a small pride of Lions but deep in cover followed by a very contented Leopard and its kill.  Both being very well camouflaged.  Unfortunately the most unexpected thing occurred in May in Timbavati = RAIN that lasted almost 45 mins so we made a dash for home and late for breakfast again.

By sheer chance I decided not to nap until lunch and witnessed a troop of Baboons crossing the dam about 100 yards away of which 2 mums had youngsters.

The afternoon game drive was about traversing an area that Motawari guides had only just been allowed access so it was very much an unknown quantity.  The vegetation and density were so different as it was approx 15tkm north of Motswari.  Previously the had seen lots of lion but all we found were mongooses and a bull elephant that was bullying a younger bull.  Fun to watch.

What will tomorrow bring – we are hoping for wart hogs at least. Its now time for bed as we have to be up at 05:00
