Day 9 Muyuna

Again it was raining as we woke and therefore had a lazy breakfast resulting in a late stat to our activity which we decided would be another, but different walk in the jungle despite the rain.

In the afternoon we were going for what for me was the highlight of the trip to look for the hoatsin bird which is /was closely related to the archioptryx (?) prehistoric bird.  Unlike all other birds it has 3 toes and the young have claws at their elbow, like the pterydactyl.  We located them by their unusual call and their smell which gives them their nickname “pig bird”  on account of their diet which makes them very smelly.  On the trip to see these birds we encountered sloths and an iguana.

In the evening we went for another boat ride.
