Day 11 Return from Muyuna

We have returned from the jungle and over the next few days I will write the account and show some photos.  It was very hard to get the photos as the sky was bright but the jungle dark.  What I can say is that it was a great experience.  The humidity is some thing to be experienced. Just sitting was difficult enough and perspirations seemed poor out my skin like a shower so walking and canoeing was exhausting, however, being was the river was cooler. I would like to go back again the in the rainy season but that is another decision to be made later in the year

Day 2 & 3 Shopping

Day 2 & 3 Shopping

Well what can I say shopping is shopping so there is no need to elaborate.
There may be a gap until we get back from the amazon about the 28th

Day 1 Journey and Arrival

I must admit there is always something special about KLM.  It usually makes travelling so much pleasure but on this occasion it was made frustrating by an over zealous check in clerk.  My bag was under weight but my wife’s, as one would expect, over weight by1.5 kilos, however the combined weight was less than the 46 kilos (2 x 23 kg) allowed.  To top it all she wanted excess baggage charge of £87 so we elected to transfer clothes from my wife’s bag to mine. So we then queued up again but now it was only half a kilo too heavy so we left again to find a quiet corner to transfer half kilo. I also registered  a complaint with the manager that I thought the clerk were totally out of order   The third time and after an hour since we arrived the weight on our bags was acceptable.

The 12 hour journey passed with out incident apart from the long period of turbulence that made going to the toilet impossible. Enrique, had not only arranged a meal but the local Mariachies came to serenade us.

Planned schedule

My next trip is about to start and if all goes well I plan to visit:
  • Muyuna Lodge in the Amazon Jungle
  • Palamino Islands
  • Ballestas Islands and Paracas Nature reserve.
  • Huancayo by train (passing over 15000ft at the Galeria Pass)
  • Archaeological site at Caral
  • Trujillo to visit the archaeological digs of Chan Chan and the Moche temples
  • Various Museums and Parques in Lima.
Whilst we are Muyuna Lodge I will not be able to update the blog so there will be a gap from the 24th to the 28th Sept.

As I travel around I hope you enjoy the images.

Well plans are well under way for my next trip.  There are a few last minute arrangements to be made.  As some of the time I will be in the jungle so the blog may not get updated daily.
