Day 7 Muyuna

In the morning after a lazy breakfast due to the rain storm that had started during the night we decided to go for along walk in the forest.  Al that has been said about forest walks has been said on the humidity and mosquitoes lasted a lot longer.  Having arrived back at the lodge we discussed that afternoons activity and we all decided that after lunch we would like to try our hand a fishing for pirahna

We set off in the boat to what was likely to be a good spot for the lazy sport of fishing, of course, in the shade – I think more for the tourists than the fish, but least the breeze from the river was cool. Having baited the hooks with pieces of chicken we dropped the line into the river.  We did not have to wait long for the nibbles to start but they were very educated fish since they kept eating all the bait but refusing to get caught.  It seemed all we were doing was feeding them in a somewhat dangerous manner as they risked being caught and eaten for supper.  Needles to say it was the boatman that caught the first fish and after that in turn we all seemed to catch one but only after using one of the small piranha as bait as we went through the chicken pieces quit quickly.  After about 2 hours we had caught 6 piranha and1 cat fish which we elected to have at supper time.

Soon, with smug smiles we were on our way back to the lodge.

We are told that Supper was at 19:15 and afterwards we are going for an evening walk so we can do what we like until then.

The food and the talk at Suppertime was good – all the usual questions of: where are you from? how long are you staying? what did you do today? and what have you seen? etc.
We meet at 20:00 for our night walk they only advantage is that it is cooler.  During the walk we were to see the expected tarantulas, scorpions, ants and the occasional gecko.
